Escape the hustle and bustle of Cairo and embark on a unique adventure to Fayoum and the world-famous Valley of the Whales (Wadi Al-Hitan), a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its fossilized whale skeletons dating back millions of years.
Your day begins with a comfortable pick-up from your hotel in a private, air-conditioned vehicle. As we drive south of Cairo into the heart of Egypt’s Western Desert, you’ll enjoy scenic views of lush farmlands and vast desert landscapes.
Upon arrival in Fayoum, we’ll explore Lake Qarun, one of Egypt’s oldest natural lakes, where you can admire the beautiful surroundings and, if lucky, spot some migratory birds. We’ll continue to Wadi El Rayan, a stunning nature reserve known for its breathtaking waterfalls – the only ones in Egypt – and picturesque desert dunes.
Next, we head deeper into the desert to reach the Valley of the Whales (Wadi Al-Hitan). This surreal and fascinating site offers a glimpse into prehistoric times, with well-preserved fossils of ancient whales that once swam in the sea that covered this area millions of years ago. You’ll walk along marked trails to see fossilized bones, learn about the evolution of whales, and discover rare marine creatures in the open-air museum.
After a day full of exploration and natural wonders, we will stop for a traditional lunch in a local restaurant before making our way back to Cairo.
This unforgettable trip is perfect for nature lovers, history enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a unique Egyptian experience off the beaten path.
