About this tour

Discover the wonders of ancient Egypt on a guided tour of two of the most fascinating temples from the Ptolemaic era. Your journey begins at the Temple of Kom Ombo, beautifully perched on the Nile’s edge and uniquely dedicated to two gods: Horus, the falcon-headed deity, and Sobek, the crocodile god symbolizing strength and the life-giving power of the Nile. Uncover the myths of Sobek as a creator god, adding spiritual depth to this extraordinary site.

Continue to the Temple of Edfu, one of the best-preserved shrines in Egypt, devoted entirely to Horus. Often compared to Karnak in its grandeur, Edfu was rediscovered in the 19th century by French archaeologist Auguste Mariette and offers an immersive glimpse into Egypt’s majestic past. After exploring these historical treasures, you’ll be comfortably returned to your hotel in Aswan.

Itinerary

Our tour guide picked you up from your hotel in Aswan to visit two remarkable temples:

Located on the banks of the Nile, the Temple of Kom Ombo dates back to the Ptolemaic period. It holds a unique distinction as the only double temple in ancient Egypt, dedicated to both the falcon-headed god Horus and the crocodile deity Sobek.

Sobek, according to legends, was revered as the god of the Nile and the creator of the world, making this temple of great significance.

Dedicated to the god Horus, the Edfu Temple is renowned as one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt. It ranks second in importance only to the Karnak Temple.

Buried under sand for centuries, it was rediscovered in the mid-19th century by the French archaeologist Auguste Mariette.

After the tour, we will safely return you to your hotel.
