Our representative will pick you up from your hotel or ship in Aswan around 5:00 AM for your journey to Abu Simbel. Starting early ensures you arrive at the temples first thing in the morning, avoiding the intense afternoon heat. Along the way, you can experience something special, like witnessing a desert sunrise. After approximately 3 hours, we will reach Abu Simbel.
Abu Simbel is a renowned complex consisting of two temples carved into the rock, one dedicated to Ramses II and the other to Nefertari, his first wife and beloved queen. It took about 20 years to construct during Ramses II's reign. Remarkably preserved, these temples remained buried under sand until the 19th century.
One of the most striking features of Abu Simbel is its location on a solid rock ledge along the Nile's banks, nestled between the first and second cataracts. Despite its impressive nature, Abu Simbel might have gained fame sooner if not for its relocation due to the construction of the Aswan Dam.
Our guided tour will last approximately two hours, allowing ample time to explore every corner of both temples and learn about their history and significance. Discover why they were meticulously preserved, how they were relocated, and the international cooperation involved in their conservation efforts.
After this enriching tour, you will return to Aswan.
